Troubleshooting syncs

What to check when the numbers look wrong or the data stops updating.

Sync 01 · Last sync

Start with the last sync time

Settings shows the last successful sync for each connected platform, along with the total number of records Analytir holds. This is the first thing to check when something looks off, because a connection can appear healthy while syncs have quietly stopped. If the last sync time is older than you expect, the problem is the connection rather than the numbers.

Sync 02 · Jobs

How syncs run

Syncs are queued rather than run immediately. When a sync is requested, Analytir creates a job and processes it in the background, so new data does not appear the instant you ask for it. Jobs move through queued, pending, completed, or failed. A job that fails for a recoverable reason is returned to pending and retried automatically. A job that cannot be recovered is marked failed and does not retry.

Sync 03 · Stale data

Data has stopped updating

The most common cause is that access was revoked on the Square side. This can happen if the Square account password changed, if the authorization was removed from Square's app permissions, or if the account itself changed ownership.

Analytir cannot detect this on its own. The connection continues to show as connected, and the only visible symptom is a last sync time that stops advancing.

The fix is to disconnect the platform in Settings and connect it again. Reconnecting issues fresh credentials and resumes syncing.

Sync 04 · Incomplete

Data looks incomplete

If a connection is new, the first sync pulls history in the background and can take several minutes on accounts with a long transaction history. Check the record count in Settings before assuming data is missing.

If records are missing from a specific period rather than the beginning, request a sync from Settings and check the last sync time afterward.

Sync 05 · Numbers

Numbers look wrong

Before treating a number as an error, check what it is measuring. Gross Sales, Total Collected, and Deposited are different figures and will not match each other. See Metric definitions for definitions of every number, and Methodology for how each is calculated.

A deposit that does not match a day's sales is usually expected rather than an error. See why deposits don't match sales.

Sync 06 · Help

Getting help

If a sync is still failing after reconnecting, contact support at support@analytir.com. Include the platform, roughly when the data stopped updating, and the last sync time shown in Settings.
